Year 12 student Oliver Griffiths has become a Junior Observer on the Bendigo Bank Board of Directors for the Sanctuary Point & Districts Community Branch.
Oliver was nominated by his Economics Teacher Mr John Fairs because of his keen interest in finance and economics. Branch Manager, Mr Keith Robinson and Board Chair, Mrs Veronica Husted met with Oliver and were impressed by his interest in finance and his keeness to join the Board. The Junior Observer program allows the bank to involve young people and hear their opinions. Keith said “Oliver will be treated as a true member and we value his opinion.”
Oliver attended his first meeting in March 2021 and said it was very insightful, the board members took the time to explain the structure of how the meetings are run and delved into the processes of how banks work with their administrative affairs. Oliver learnt about the relationships between different roles within the board and how they influence different aspects of the bank.
Oliver is planning on doing a double degree in economics and law at University post school and hopes to pursue a career in finance. He said “this experience will broaden my knowledge and understanding of the finance sector.”
Vincentia High School is very excited for Oliver and wish him all the best with his studies and future endeavours. His future is looking bright!
