Where are you working now and in what role?
I am the Owner and Operator along with my wife Mel of Clarke's Vehicle Services & LPG Centre in St Georges Basin. I left school in 2006 to start my apprenticeship here and eventually bought the business in 2021!
What do you love about your job?
It’s rewarding when you are solving customer’s problems and having the skill to maintain, repair and modify your own vehicles. Plus being my own boss has always been a goal of mine.
Did anyone at VHS inspire you to follow your chosen career path?
Yes. Bob Madden, Jed Brinley, Sandra Clarke and Mr & Mrs Worthy and also those who doubted my ability to do well, that drove me to prove them wrong!
Did you have many challenges to get to where you are now?
Working alongside family can be challenging but very rewarding, however, my main challenge was TAFE but with the support of the work environment and TAFE environment I got through and don’t regret any of it.
Do you have any advice for our current students?
Follow your dreams, believe in yourself, find a good partner that has the same values and goals in life, it definitely helps and just get it done!
