A long time in the making, 2 June 2023 saw the official opening of walawaani ngarn, a welcome place to support students, their families and our school community.

The dream, along with partnered agencies, was to create a culturally safe space to access appropriate services, ensuring each student has the best possible chance to thrive and meet their full potential.

Since Vincentia High School opened in 1993, parents and carers ability to access required support was not easy due to lack of services and public transport in our local area. Students often experienced long delays or minimal access to the help they needed. This was the driving force behind seeing the dream of a Wellbeing Hub become a reality on the grounds of our school.

We would like to acknowledge the presence of our Elders, Fiona Phillips MP, Department of Education dignitaries, Principal Winfield, VHS Senior Executives & local primary schools staff who attended the opening, plus the formidable representatives of the agencies who are front and foremost, working together with us to ensure the wellbeing of our students is met each day.

It really does take a village to raise a child.

This truly was ‘History in the Making.’
