Kookaburra Retreat (Shoalhaven Defence Families Association)

The SDFA is a not-for-profit organisation set up to bring fun, friendship and support to Defence and civilian families in the Shoalhaven and surrounding areas.

Kookaburra Retreat is a welcoming place for people to relax, form friendships, have fun and feel connected within the community. There is a strong emphasis on providing support to those facing the particular challenges associated with the defence way-of-life. At Kookaburra Retreat, the SDFA offers a wide range of programs, however during current COVID-19 restrictions, these programs may not be running. For more information go to:

Shoalhaven Defence Catchups

This dynamic group was formed by a number of Defence spouses who were interested in creating a supportive social network for Defence families in the local area. They frequently meet up for morning teas at The Tea Club in Nowra and occasionally meet for lunch and dinner at local restaurants.
