Sea Eagle Enduro

Group photo

Over 40 excited athletes rolled out of Vincentia High School on Wednesday afternoon aboard their mountain bikes to participate in first annual Sea Eagle Enduro. The event, comprising of 2 timed downhill runs on a short 5.8km course, was born out of a desire to provide a fun and positive competition for our students during a challenging 2020 which has seen most events cancelled.

The event provided an important opportunity for us to farewell our valued Year 12 team mates Justin Abbott, Jack Brotherton, Oliver Macken, Tegan McKay and Lily Wheeler. These students provided our team with a plethora of memories, support and spirit over the last six years and will be dearly missed.

In the sunny spring conditions, students flew through the course as their competitive spirits were awakened. Our Junior divisions were hotly contested with Brae Denham taking out the boys competition ahead of Gillie Macken and Mackay Lissendon whilst Libby Walters won the girls race with Makelle Triffett taking second place. Alix Luckman crushed the course to top the Intermediate girls competition ahead of Ellie Macken and Eva Mackay in second and third respectively. Seth Kingma edged Joel Walters to take out the Intermediate Boys race with Diesel Spiteri taking third. Oliver Macken and Lily Wheeler, in their final event in the VHS colours, topped the Senior podiums. Alyssa Head and Justin Abbott took out second places in the female and male divisions whilst Jack Brotherton came in third place in the male competition.

Special mentions to Alix Luckman for placing in the Top 6 overall and to Oliver Lawson for showing grit and determination on a challenging course.

Thank you to all our volunteers on the course and to staff who organised the event Ms Boyce, Ms Rodwell, Mr Crossman, Miss Amor, Mr Snelling, Mr Lovegrove and Mr Ryan.
