Triathlon Australia in conjunction with School Sports Australia held the inaugural Australian Schools Triathlon Festival on the 18-21st April 2017 at the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith, NSW. Vincentia High had 15 students compete and we would like to congratulate them all: Madison Watt, Felicity Hector, Eleace Davidson, Eva Mackay, Lilli Briggs, Eliana Macken, Lachlan Sewell, Corey Jarvis and Henry Gray composed our junior teams and Jeremy Head, Eric Bensley, Sam Taylor, Nellie Gray, Ruby Young and Jackie Milani made up our intermediate teams.
Five teams competed in the Open Schools triathlon relay. Congratulations to Eric Bensley, Jeremy Head and Sam Taylor for coming second in the Intermediate Team boys relay and bringing home a silver medal. Congratulations also to Corey Jarvis who competed in the Open Schools Aquathon and gave it all he had. Troy Whittington represented our school in the Australian Triathlon Championships and was selected as a member of the N.S.W Team to compete against other states both in the individual and team events. His dedication to perfecting his swim leg, early morning training rides with Mr Crossman and national running background saw Troy gain a credible 15th place and a personal best of 58.49 in the Senior Boys individual event. Troy's efforts did not stop there, the next day he competed in two relay triathlon events back to back representing the N.S.W Team in the swim, bike and run. Vincentia High School congratulates Troy on his Australian representation and wishes him much success in his upcoming cross-country season.
All students represented our school with pride and gained valuable experience mixing it with teams from all around Australia. A big thank you to the wonderful parents and teachers who support our students at this festival.
