Youth Advisory Council for Bridget

Bridget

Bridget from Year 11 attended the 2022 NSW Youth Council Conference in Goulburn on the weekend. She found it incredibly rewarding and said that the theme ‘Come together through community’ was thoroughly embodied by all delegates and mentors from across the state.

Bridget said the seminars and workshops included outstanding presenters who gave excellent talks with a focus on mental health, which she found very interesting given the experience we have all had over the past couple of years. The discussion was around individual mental health issues and the importance of access to services in our community.

“The seminar with Rosie Thomas from Project Rockit’s showed how we can harness the capabilities of social media to create positive change in our communities. I was assigned to a group to create an online campaign to promote anti-bullying behaviours, which we then presented to the room” said Bridget.

As a member of the Shoalhaven City Council Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) Bridget attends YAC meetings as a representative for youth in the Bay & Basin area. The committee aims to represent the interests and views of young people to Council and the Community.

Well done Bridget, we know you will be an exemplary representative for youth in our community.
